Presidents day competition

Unfortunately due to bad weather the presidents day was re scheduled to Sunday 8th October when a small number of dyehards turned out to roll a few.

The weather was kind and stayed dry for them resulting in a good friendly competition between those present.

The clubs Sponsors Gregg and Trisha of Ainsworths Funerals attended and witnessed the presentations by our president Ian .

Members are encouraged to attend the events to make use of the facilities.

The green is in very good shape at the moment and good to play .

The Presidents trophy was won by Lynn Shepherd and John Hacking, with Sue Hacking and David Shepherd runners up.

Cheese and Wine Fund Raiser is a success

Around 30 people attended the Cheese and Wine fund raiser held at Chris and Beryl Thaynes on the evening of Friday 29th September.

The minimal £6 cover charge was boosted by the raffle and from the takings at a very busy bar area. Fortunately Chris and Beryl had prepared the cellar adequately.

A total of £280 was raised for the Bowling Club and once again our thanks go to Chris and Beryl for hosting.

FUND RAISER CREAM TEA JULY 13th 2017

A beautiful sunny day was on hand for the fund raiser arranged by Beryl and Chris at Woodlands Grove.
All their hard work paid off with support from others on the day.
They make it look so easy.
Permission was granted to share the photos of those involved and here they are.
More details of the funds raised to follow later.

On the evening £626 was taken and after deductions (food,wine,barrel) £336 was raised(the original quote of £376 had mistakenly included a membership renewal brought on the night). Thanks to everyone who attended and especially those who assisted .

This was followed on Sunday 7th May  with the Spring Doubles Competition. This proved to be an extremely close contest with three pairs scoring the same number of points.

SINGLES COMPETITION KEEPS IT IN THE FAMILY

Once again the weather was kind to the members who turned up for the annual singles competition.

The finals for the women was a hard fought battle for first to 21 between Susan Hacking and Lynn Shepherd.

This time the newcomer clinched it with Lynn taking the trophy with as much surprise to herself.

To keep it a family affair the mens final between John Hacking and David Shepherd was won by David after he pulled back from behind clinching the game by tactically reversing his  bias.

The presentation ceremony was followed by some light refreshments at a local hostelry.
